Reimagining A Former K-Mart For Silverton Hospital

This freestanding health and wellness center, designed for long-term client Silverton Hospital (Currently Legacy Health – Silverton), completely transforms the shell of a defunct K-Mart department store. Designed to enhance the hospital’s customary services, it provides a unique environment for many complementary care options. The vision for the center was to create a highly inviting, integrated, and collaborative environment to:

• Empower its customers to take charge of their health by offering a variety of services in one location. 
• Cater to customers, providing helpful staff and a full array of services. 
• Create a dramatic and memorable locus of health. 

To undo the constraints of the existing retail box, CKA superimposed curved walls inside and out, cut gardens in the center, and heavily landscaped the formerly barren parking lot and exterior. The result is a calm oasis for those seeking health-related services.
