How Hospital Dietary Departments are Evolving
Hospital dietary departments are not what they used to be. Historically an easy target for humor and disdain, the hospital meal experience has steadily evolved with the recognition that a focus on patient care means providing fresh, nutritious and tasty meals. It is hard to heal when you are hungry. In addition, these services are often utilized most by staff and visitors whose most convenient (or only) option might be the hospital cafeteria. Working with ABM Industries Director of Innovation and Design, we have been developing dining spaces that actively contribute to positive patient experiences. Test kitchens, demonstration spaces, and retail cooking are just a few of the modern amenities which make eating at the hospital something actually look forward to.
