Project News
Recently Completed Projects
OHSU Urology Clinic, Portland, OR: We recently completed this tenant improvement of a urology clinic at the Adventist Health campus for Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). This project is one of the first physical manifestations of the partnership between Adventist Health Portland and OHSU, and we have been excited to be a part of it. We look forward to sharing the final photos of the project here on our website soon.
OHSU Knight Cancer Center, Portland, OR: On the Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center campus, the Knight Cancer Center is a partnership between Legacy Health and OHSU that provides south metro residents with convenient access to cancer treatment, connected to OHSU’s Knight Cancer Center for top quality care and innovative research. This project increases patient capacity, improves the staff work environment, and modernizes the compounding pharmacy to meet the latest requirements for patient and staff safety. This is one of three Knight Cancer Center Community Hematology Oncology locations where OHSU and CKA are collaborating to improve care and the patient experience. Learn more about this project here.
Under Construction
Silverton Medical Center Expansion, Silverton, OR: One step closer to a larger, better medical center with the slab being poured for Legacy Silverton’s Medical Center expansion project.
Events to Celebrate
Saints Gala: : Every February we look forward to supporting St. Charles Health System by attending their Saints Gala, and this year they raised more than $200k for a cancer program designed to identify those at increased risk for cancer through genetic testing, assessment, and education. It really was a fun night, and we were proud to be part of this effort to fight cancer and support St. Charles. Find out more about their program here
Save the Date We are also excited about our upcoming open house on June 15th, in part to celebrate 30 years as a locally-based firm supporting healthcare clients in the Pacific Northwest! We’re pleased to be able to gather in person again, and we hope you’ll join us for this special event and mark your calendars now. This is a unique opportunity to meet our team in person and get a behind-the-scenes look at what we do and where we do it. We look forward to seeing you there!
Team Highlights
New Team Member: We have a new team member! His name is Larz Hitchcock and he joins us from a long career in architecture that started in the construction business. He has already become an essential member of the team managing CKA projects for OHSU. Watch this space next quarter for additional new staff member announcements.
Volunteer Opportunites: For the second year in a row, our own Evon Calabrese is taking part in the Architects in Schools program at Springville Elementary School. Many of us here who have participated in the program have seen first-hand how much fun kids have when they get to be involved in the design process and learn how architects can transform a space into something special. Check out the AiS program and find some fun activities to do at home here: http://ow.ly/Un4i50Jaa6L
We also recently volunteered at RoseHaven- the only day shelter and community center in Portland specifically serving women, children, and gender-diverse people. They offer meals, hygiene facilities, clothing, connection to services, and safe respite from the streets in a trauma-informed design space. We dove in to help organize clothing donations and hygiene supplies for this very worthy organization. Donate here
Pie Day/Hike Club/Social Hour: The last quarter was also a blast for us, thanks to the fun activities organized by the Quality of Life committee. One of the highlights was the much-awaited Pie Day, where we indulged in a variety of delicious homemade pies. The Hike Club was another hit, where staff gets outside together to explore nature. Social hours were also organized, creating a chance for staff to connect with each other on a personal level.
As we wrap up this spring recap post, we can’t help but look ahead to what’s in store for the next quarter. With our new website up and running, we’re excited to share more of our insights, articles, and projects with you in an easily accessible way. We’re also eagerly anticipating the completion of our Silverton Medical Center Expansion project, which will bring better emergency care and an improved patient experience. And of course, we can’t wait for our upcoming open house in June, where we’ll be celebrating 30 years of supporting healthcare clients in the Pacific Northwest. We’re looking forward to what’s to come and can’t wait to share it all with you.
