Clark/Kjos Architects is excited to announce that it has been named a winner of the International Interior Design Association’s 6th annual IIDA Healthcare Interior Design Competition. The competition honors and celebrates outstanding originality and excellence in the design of healthcare interior spaces. Clark Kjos Architects was recognized in the category of Hospitals – Psychiatric, for MultiCare Health System Adolescent Behavioral Health at Tacoma General Hospital located in Tacoma, Washington.
“This year’s winners exemplify exceptional healthcare design that puts patients and their caregivers at ease while creating positive, healing environments,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP.
The jury panel reviewing this year’s competition included Carol Doering, IIDA, AAHID, CID, LEED AP, healthcare lead, IA Interior Architects; Lisa Herriott, IIDA, LEED AP ID+C, interior designer, project manager, UW Medicine | Harborview Medical Center; and Tiana Lemons, IIDA, NCIDQ, EDAC, healthcare studio leader, orcutt | winslow.
The jury was impressed by the caliber of submissions to this year’s competition. “In healthcare facilities, offering a welcoming, yet professional environment requires a balance of design elements. The winning entries all showcased inviting, warm spaces designed to evoke feelings of calm and comfort,” said Doering.
